COACH JAMES BISHOP FOR LYNWOOD SCHOOL BOARD

SHOW UP. LEVEL UP. MOVE FORWARD.

SHOW UP — Student Attendance & Engagement

According to the 2025 California School Dashboard, 33.2% of Lynwood Unified students are chronically absent.

The goal is to strengthen students’ connection to school through mentorship, family engagement, athletics, extracurricular activities, and meaningful opportunities that give students a reason to show up and stay engaged.

LEVEL UP — Academic Achievement

Lynwood Unified is currently rated Yellow in both Mathematics and English Language Arts.

The focus should be on continuing to improve academic achievement, supporting teachers and students, and holding the district accountable for measurable progress.

MOVE FORWARD — College & Career Readiness

Lynwood’s Graduation Rate is Green, but College/Career readiness is Yellow.

Graduating should not be the only goal. Students should leave Lynwood Unified prepared for their next opportunity, whether that’s college, skilled trades, a career, entrepreneurship, military service, athletics, or another productive pathway.

CORE VALUES

Accountability • Transparency • Community • Opportunity

WHY THIS FITS COACH BISHOP

“As a coach, I’ve learned that success starts with showing up. Then you put in the work to get better. And ultimately, you prepare yourself for the next opportunity. I believe we should expect the same for every student in Lynwood.

Show Up. Level Up. Move Forward.”
