Cheerio – The Artist

Cheerio – Thee Artist, real name Billy Gray, is an extremely talented artist whose work is displayed on the walls and buildings of many of the Compton schools. Cheerio – Thee Artist has been painting murals on the schoolyard walls and buildings for decades, and he is displaying the finest art ever to be placed on a school ground in Compton.

Cheerio’s work is incredible and he has paintings and sketchings on just about every subject. There are paintings of the early Native Americans, scientist George Washington Carver, Robert F, Kennedy Sr., Barack Obama, along with hundreds of made-up characters that capture the young scholar’s imagination. He has art at Centennial High, Ronald McNair Elementary, George Washington Carver Elementary, and Tibby Elementary. Marian Anderson and Robert F. Kennedy Elementary, C-Tech Academy, just to name a few.

His art is distinctive, and each mural or painting tells a story. This publication got a chance to follow Cheerio – Thee Artist to some of his school sites and viewed the amazing artwork. We will continue to follow Cheerio and report on the great work that he is doing in Compton.
