The Compton Unified School District (CUSD) Proudly Unveiled New Electric Buses

The Compton Unified School District (CUSD) proudly unveiled its new fleet of electric school buses, showcasing 25 buses and 25 newly installed Tellus chargers. The event occurred at Caldwell Elementary School and was attended by school administrators, staff, partners, community members, media representatives, and the Compton High band. Durham School Services (DSS) is the transportation provider for the district.

Vice President Governing Board of Trustees CUSD Satra Zurita welcomed everyone to the ribbon-cutting ceremony with enthusiasm, saying, “It’s a great day in Compton! Welcome to the number one school in LA County and the number one school in California. Today marks a historic occasion as we take another bold step toward a brighter, healthier, and more sustainable future for our scholars and their families. With the unveiling of these new electric buses, we are not just upgrading our transportation; we are investing in the future of our scholars and the Compton community. What a time to be a student at CUSD! We are proud to share that CUSD has the highest graduation rate in all of LA County and ranks #1 in California among comparable-sized districts. This project is a testament to the great work being done in Compton. It’s a great day in Compton!”

The new buses will begin transporting students this spring, and attendees had the opportunity to tour and ride on them during the event.
