Brief History of the Consolidated Board of Realtist:
Realtists are members of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB), founded in 1947 by a group of African American real estate professionals who were excluded from local Realtor® associations due to segregation and racism. They created NAREB to advocate for “Democracy in Housing” and to promote fair access to
homeownership for Black Americans and other underserved communities.
CBR have been virtual soldiers in the fight against discrimination practices in the real estate and housing industry since 1949. Much of the anti-discrimination legislation related to Housing and real estate financing that exists today can be credited to the founding members of the Consolidated Board of Realtist. For decades, CBR has been a leading
voice in the fight for fair housing, increased Black homeownership, and equitable access to real estate and credit. Through outreach, education, advocacy, and professional development, CBR continues to help close the racial wealth gap. Realtist have served the underserved across America since 1947, and the mission has not changed.
