LA Kings and Mascot Bailey Visit Kennedy and McKinley Elementary Schools in Compton

The LA Kings, their mascot Bailey, and TV analyst Daryl Evans recently visited Kennedy and McKinley Elementary Schools to have fun with scholars inside and outside the classroom.

Evans, a former LA Kings hockey player and now TV announcer, read the alphabet book “B is for Bailey” to classes at both Kennedy and McKinley, teaching the scholars about hockey through the alphabet while Bailey helped demonstrate the book. The students learned about hockey, different terms used in the game, and the equipment hockey players use.

After the readings, Bailey joined the scholars outside for some ball hockey. Scholars hit the rink and tried to score on Bailey, battling each other in fun games.

The LA Kings, through their Kings Care Foundation, have been setting up ball hockey rinks at various Compton Unified Schools this summer, teaching scholars how to play ball hockey, the blacktop version of ice hockey.
